Harry and hairy...

Two unrelated mini-posts today.

Harry as horcrux?

For a while now I've been convinced that Harry will die in book 7. I hold the belief that in order for Voldemort to be be destroyed, Harry will have to be destroyed as well. In other words: Harry is one of the horcruxes (per JK Rowling's site, this is the correct spelling). Proof o' Horcrux-iness (from Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 18):
Harry: Voldemort put a bit of himself in me?
Dumbledore: It certainly seems so.

Hairy blogging issues...

I've discussed this with more than one person over the last few days...but sometimes the whole public blogging thing can sort of hamper the point of a blog. If everyone you know and love knows where your blog is, you can't exactly be talking smack about these people (ok, the truth is that I wouldn't talk smack, I'd more talk about my frustrations with these people).

So what do you do? Sometimes you just can't make a situation hypothetical enough for the people not to know that you're talking about them. Do you hope that their feelings won't be hurt by some possibly uncomfortable talk about them and just blog about it? Go elsewhere and get a private blog? Or just keep it out of the blogosphere all together? It just feels like this blog suffers from my lack of complete honesty/forthrightness with who I am/who the people I love are. And since this is a personal blog...it not reflecting me feels a little...short?

  1. re Harry:
isn't horcrux making a complex bit of magic? i shouldn't think you could do it accidentally, and i would think having a human, sentient horcrux would be dicey. DD says, somewhere in HBP, something about Nagini and horcruxes, and the ups and downs of having animate vs. inanimate ones. hmm. i guess he could have been al ready to shoot that piece of soul into something else after killing Harry and when it all went so wrong (from Voldy's persp.) things might have got Harry. (sorry! can't help it!) something to mull over.

    re hairy:
yes, well, agreed. no forum is truly safe, i guess, not even the diary with the lock on it, since some rotten boy can steal it in fifth grade and publish your thoughts. sometimes, i send myself emails in which i express those items. it allows me to air them, and then i can delete them or file them or whatever, without having to involve the reading public. not exactly your situation, nor did you ask for advice (and honestly! not meant as such! just an observation), but a compromise which sometimes helps me not fall off the edge.

  2. one big thing I have learned from traveling all over this country with people road rules style is that frustrations build if you don't express them, whether directly or indirectly, but here's a quote I heard that kinda hit home..."Say what you mean, but mean what you say. Those that mind don't matter and those that matter don't mind." The bottom line is no one is perfect and sometimes venting frustrations leads to greater understanding of why they exist. Anyway, that's my 2 cents, not that it helps much because people's feeling will still be hurt because most people don't see their own faults, but there it is for whatever its worth.
